The low down on Me

Hello! My name is Kelsey. Welcome to my blog! This is my third attempt at a blog (Fair warning - I'm a sharer. Things just might get personal). I'm really excited about this one because I've finally got the name I've been trying to get forever.

Hixson is my mother's maiden name and I identify strongly with her side of the family. Don't get me wrong, I'm just as much a Bowles (Dad's side) but the Hixson women have a certain set of characteristics that just describe me perfectly. So, I am a Hixson Girl and I'm proud of it! My Grandma Hixson taught me how to knit when I was 8 and I've been going at it fast and furious since then (almost 13 years!). Knitting, fashion, dish collection, shopping, movies... it's all just genetic.

Another thing I love to do is write. I'm studying English on the creative writing track as well as Entrepreneurship at Kansas State University (EMAW!). English professors know me as the one who knits in class. Ah! That's another thing you should know about me: I'm a public knitter. I encourage all knitters to come out of the yarn store, living room, bed (where ever you're knitting) and take it out doors into the public eye! It's a great way to strike up conversation. But the real reason I do it is to help me stay focused on the conversation going on in class.
Knitting seems to occupy the part of my brain that wanders and distracts the product part of my brain. So when I need to be paying attention, I pull out my knitting :)

Let's see...what else about me? Oh! I'm a writing tutor and recently thought about how much fun it would be to be a knitting tutor. So I'm going to try out the concept here, so send me your questions!
